Coralyne chloride is a a protoberberine alkaloid, can be used as a fluorescent DNA-based molecular rectifier. Coralyne constructs into a DNA duplex by site-specific intercalation. Coralyne is a useful fluorescent probe for the sensitive and selective detection of heparin, DNA, nucleic acid, etc. Coralyne is also a promising antitumor and necurodrug.
